Circle for Integrated Community Development (CICOD) is a national non-profit making non-governmental organisation registered with Malawi government under Trustees
Incorporation Act in 2004. CICOD was set up in 2002 by community development activists to empower local communities to determine their own development needs through active participation. CICOD’s head office is in Lilongwe with its impact areas in different districts.
The poor demand their rights
CICOD exists to empower the poor, vulnerable and marginalized communities and households to take a leading and active role in challenging and reducing poverty using integrated rights-based programming.

Partnerships
CICOD has been and is working in partnership with a number of partners and stakeholders including Oxfam, Trocaire, Christian Aid, Sign of Hope of Germany, United Nations World Food Programme, WaterAid, Development Fund, Small Steps of Belgium; International Labour Organisation (ILO), Plan Malawi, Kindernothilfe (KNH), ActionAid, Rural Livelihood Economic Enhancement Programme (RLEEP), National Democratic Institute for Foreign Affairs (NDI), Global Environmental Facility Small Grants Programme (GEF-SGP), Shire River Basin Management Programme, Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) Malawi, Malawi Environmental Endowment Trust (MEET), DAI Global UK, Concern Worldwide, Global Monsanto Fund and Malawi Ministry of Education Science and Technology (MOEST).
CICOD is currently reaching out to 50,000 households with a population of 230,000 people with long term development projects. CICOD has reached out to 200,000 households with a population of 1,000,000 people from its inception in 2002

Chikwawa Integrated Sustainable Livelihoods and Drought Resilience Building Project is a 5year food and income security and disaster risk reduction intervention funded by Trocaire/IrishAid being implemented in TA Ngabu and TA Masache in Chikwawa
Climate Just Communities is a three year project funded by Scottish Government through DAI Global UK which CICOD being implemented in TA Nkhumba in Phalombe district to a
tune of £470,718 targeting 1,920 households from 2024 to 2026
The Lean Season Food Insecurity Response project is a UN World Food Programme funded project being implemented in Blantyre from October to December 2024 reaching out to a total affected population of 208,400 people (46,311 households) and this represents 40% of the district populationwith cash and in kind transfers.
GOOD GOVERNANCE
Mainstreamed in all projects in form of formation and capacity building of community-based structure like Village Natural Resources Management Committees, Village Civil Protection Committees, Village Development Committees, Water Point Committees, Farmer Cooperatives among others.
